The Nature of Man

The Holy Bible acknowledges and affirms many aspects of the nature of man. Said differently it confirms that humanity shares many of the attributes of other species of the animal kingdom while also recognizing the degree to which people exceed the abilities of the other species.

The essential elements that make the human species special and unique seem to be our ability to process and deal with signs and symbols. It seems clear and simple to me even though some would assert that we are no better than animals.

The ability to think and act introduces the obligation to act intelligently and responsibly. We can built up or tear down. We can create and build or we can destroy and kill. There is a process that we need to follow and support. If we don't follow this process then we as individuals and as a society will suffer the consequences.

I describe this process like this: Listen, read, think, reason, understand, seek divine wisdom, decide on a course of action and follow through. Repeat consistently and as needed.

I advocate that we each follow this process sequentially, iteratively, intelligently and consistently. Make it a habit.
