To a Seventh-day Adventist the gift of prophecy is all about Ellen G. White but the gift of prophecy can be present to some degree in every believer. Watch the video again to see and hear what the Bible really says about prophets and prophecy.
When you examine the lives and words of individuals that are called prophets in the Bible you find that sometimes they do bad things or they say wrong things. The Bible picture is that a person may claim to be a prophet or be thought of as a prophet when in actuality that person is a fraud and is not truly speaking for God.
This gives substance to the idea of testing the prophets. See below for an article on the subject of testing the prophets.
The testimony of Jesus is the substance of that to which Jesus testifies. That includes what He preached, taught and commanded. It is everything true that is connected with Jesus at a basic level and at the deepest and most spiritual level.
The spirit of prophecy is the Holy Spirit and the prophetic gift which is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. It is a spiritual gift that shares its purpose with all the other spiritual gifts. The spirit of prophecy glorifies God the Father and God the Son. I don't believe the Holy Spirit glorifies the Holy Spirit. That does not sound like something Jesus did or would do. Each person of the trinity glorifies the other two persons.
Prophecy tells or reveals what God wants to communicate. The Holy Spirit plays the essential communication role and ensures that the message is clearly and simply communicated. When we sincerely pray for God to open the mind to hear God's message the spirit of prophecy is activated to help us hear and understand the will of God for us.
The angel, the heavenly messenger that spoke to John in Revelation 19 verse 10, identified with all the believers who like John were faithful to the picture of God revealed in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. True believers have a correct understanding of the essential elements that comprise God's will and plan in life. A true believer in Christ has a growing connection with God.
The conclusion is clear and simple. It is God's desire to communicate with you directly. God's appointed means to do this is Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.
God is trying to phone you. Do not block God's call.
