The future home of the righteous will be in a new heaven and a new earth. From the passages quoted in the video it is very clear to see that the new heaven and the new earth are similar in some ways to the heaven and earth that we are familiar with now.
It is also clear and obvious that while some aspects are similar and even appear to be the same as now there are quite a number of differences. Let's consider a few of these similarities and differences.
Let's look first at a number of similarities.
Let's now look at a number of differences.
We might say the new earth is a utopia. But, it is not a place we can implement in the here and now.
It seems that the prophets struggled to describe the future reward of the righteous. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 2, "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." The Bible is clear and simple on what the new earth will be like.
Sometimes heaven and earth are combined in our thoughts. We use the two words interchangeably. Consider this statement.
Heaven is a place where we will live surrounded by real and substantial objects. Some of these objects will be things we will find to be similar to the objects we find ourselves surrounded with in this life.
Jesus Christ promised to go prepare a place for His followers. I take that to mean He is preparing or has prepared a place for them in the New Jerusalem city in heaven. This city is a real physical building that is a cube in shape, nearly 1400 miles on each side. God will transport this city from heaven to the new earth at the end of the millennium.
The Bible describes the creation of a huge plain that forms the foundation on which the New Jerusalem is set. The plain or foundation is created when Jesus Christ sets His foot on a particular mountain located near the historic Jerusalem.
